The Henderson State University Chem Club (ACS Student Affiliate Chapter) has many activities underway for the Fall semester!  We offer free tutoring on Thursday evenings to any student who needs help with any chemistry course.  On September 4, the Chem Club hosted a Float Trip down the Caddo River beginning in Glenwood, AR.  Four student members participated in Tinkerfest at the Museum of Discovery in Little Rock on September 19.  Chem Club will be co-hosting our annual picnic with the Biology Club at the Lake DeGray lower dam on October 1, and we will be participating in the event at the Little Rock Art Museum on October 11.  Additionally, we will be co-hosting an ACS Program in a Box session with the Ouachita Baptist University ACS Student Affiliate Chapter on October 20.  In keeping with Henderson tradition, Chem Club will be participating in Family Science Night on the evening of October 22 and will be celebrating National Mole Day on October 23 with a Periodic Table of Cupcakes Sale.  Chem Club will be hosting a meeting of the Central Arkansas Local Section on October 29 on the campus of Henderson State University.  We have two very exciting speakers coming to give talks at Henderson in October:  Thomas E. Kreschollek, Ph.D., a process chemist at Shell Oil in Deer Park, TX (and a Henderson alumnus) and Ramu Ramachandran, Ph.D., associate dean of research at Louisiana Tech University.  We have recently completed our goggle sales fundraiser and are planning our Periodic Table of Cupcakes sale and working concessions at Henderson’s home basketball games.
